Hola Vatos! I started Aikido three weeks back and i love it, tho the beginning is always kinda boring in any Budo sport. Its all about Ukemi and few basic evasive techniques (read more about the techniques from AikiWeb), none the less i like the physical exercise and the Budo way of thinking. Some 15 years ago i was in Karate (had a green belt if i remember correctly) and the love for Budo stuck with me.
Related to Aikido, there was this show last weekend at the local Sports center where several performances were given in Aikido, Wushu (Wushu-Kung Fu), Ju Jutsu (Jiu Jitsu) and Tai Chi and what really appealed to me along with Aikido was Wushu. Its was really graceful and soft, yet very aggressive with the sudden jumps and turns. Been thinking of starting training Wushu too, but thats to be seen. Anyway, the coolest part of the Aikido show was when Philippe Goutard came along (5th dan), i tell you it was beautiful how people just flew away from him.
Last weekend we had the 'semi'annual Splatter/Paintball game, in which i got 7 "kills" and got shot about as many times. Just over 2 hours of shooting and 'commandoing' didn't even hurt few days later, i guess the Aikido helped me a bit in this case. I did manage to get shot painfully few times, and have nice bruises in my back to remember it from. Few shots to the face too, i did wear the face mask but still one of those shots managed to cut my lip open. Not nice.
Last month has also seen the opening of Imperiumi.Net metal webzine, that was created from the ruins of SFPerkele.Net. That has been going really well, just over the first 14 days of the sites existence we managed to exceed the monthly limit of 24gigabytes (17.000 hits) that the service provider had set for us. The price for added bandwidth would have been ridiculous, so we simply changed ISP and got the site running on a more reliable server after just 3 days of down time. Now the new counter says there have been over 61.000 visitors. Pretty good for a new webzine if you ask me.
On the work front shit is not getting better, its really hard to find work in the IT-trade and its REALLY starting to piss me off now. I think i'll start looking for (magazine)printing jobs, until i can find something computer related.
The Kickstart Festival is going down this weekend and i have to, yet again, skip it. No money, no music. And this too is pissing me off, there would have been several bands in there that i would have liked to see... Elephant Bell, Dozer, Greenleaf, Lowrider and Nine. Not to mention one of the few "reunion" gigs that Xysma is making this year. Oh well, i can't have it all i guess, i've been feeling like i can't get any of it at all lately tho. Shit happens. See ya.

Exactly 2 months since the last addition... where to begin.
Well, recently Kata had her summer vacation and we did a bit of traveling, all inside Finnish borders tho. Few weeks were spent at the family summer cabin, one week in Kotka visiting Kata's parents and the Meripäivät festival, trip to the Särkänniemi amusement park in Tampere among others.
Its been a damn hot summer here and the weather has almost been too much for me as i can't stand heat at all. The fan has been blowing on overtime and i've been sweating like a pig all of the time. Can't complain tho, i'd rather suffer heat that the cold we get here around wintertime. At least the allergy i seemed to have for the sun has subsided and i've actually gotten some colour.
On the job front it's been shite. I send out stacks (well, emails really) of applications and only few of the companies bother to reply that i'm not the one they want to employ. This is really beginning to piss me off, but there is only that much i can do... besides that futile application sending business.
Whatever, i'm too hot for sitting here for now. Later.

Its been a while again and lots has happened. My sister was visiting home again some time ago. This time around she brought a friend with her from Barcelona, called Ainoa, and we took them both on a bit of a bar tour. We had fun, hopefully so did Ainoa. Apparently she had 'fallen in love' with Finnish sauna too, good for her :)
Summer is in full gear now, warm days, sun shining and all that good stuff, but i think i might have developed a bit of an allergy for sun. Sucks too, few days ago we took a long walk and my arms got some sun, now they are red with a bit of an rash. Itches like hell too.
Mom and dads machine is working well, they seem pleased with it, tho i've had to pay some visits to them just so they would get everything working with it again. No biggie tho.
Damn, i sit down here and try to remember what i've done and my mind goes blank... i should write when things happen i guess. Well, i try to do that in the future. But for now... Laters

Hangover day. Last nite was CD release party for Timo Rautiainen & Trio Niskalaukaus new album. So i drank in excess as usual.
My mom and dad asked me to put a PC together for them, so i buy new parts for myself and make them a machine out of my old parts. Pretty cool gig, as they need the machine for internet and typing it doesn't have to be all that powerful. My old trusty 400Mhz AMD K6-3 will do them just fine.
Bollocks... can't be arsed to write now...maybe later. Bye

Moving day. Kata is moving in and i was forced to clear up some of my old clothes from the shelfs. 3 plastic bags of old clothing went to UFF and something like 3 cardboard boxes filled with jackets and old band t-shirts went to the attic. I didn't even know i had some of the crap we found. But then, she brought in her stuff... some 12 boxes filled with crap! Three of them ended up in the attic, but still theres a lot of stuff to be crammed into my small wardrobe... looks like mission impossible to me. But what do i know, females are weird in that they can apparenlty multiply shelfspace.
On other news, been thinking about going back to school... again. This time i saw a good looking Java programming class thingy that i'm interested in. Its supported by government too, so i don't have to be so fucking broke all the time, like with that last school i went to. That would prolly open up some better job prospects too, so i'm hoping for the best.
On movie front, i got interested in this old series called Red Dwarf and am trying to gather up all the episodes i can. It a show about a deep space mining vessel Red Dwarf of which crew died, exept for the Chickensoupmachine Repair guy. 30 million years in the future kinda comedy show, heh heh. Its really funny for the most part, hilarious at times... also the new Star Trek series that is now showing in the States, called Star Trek: Enterprise is looking like a real good show. Stories of the first Enterprise ship and its adventures in space, all happening before all of the other stuff (other series, movies etc.), kinda like history of the ST world.
Music front has been kinda quiet, new Motörhead album "Hammered" is pretty good, Rite's new 3-track promo is really promising too. New Fu Manchu was kind of an let down to me tho.
Anyway, i gotta start preparing some food, which means i will see you later!

Still looking for steady job, but i got a small gig coding the homepages for one of the local Odd Fellows groups. I have no idea what they are about, but i sure do appreciate the money they'll be putting my way.
Old friends girlfriend had a birthday party last weekend, which was okay, but for one burst of drunken fighting between the hostess and my friend. Reminded me of some teenaged parties...
Thursday before that was the birthday party for Lauski, another old friend of mine. Cool party at Factory Club, some friends, beer and improvisation music. Turned out to be really fun all the way, even tho it seemed kinda dull in the beginning.
Can't be arsed to write more now... too much stuff to do... so, later.

1.2.2002
Its been a damn long time since i last wrote anything. Well not much has been going on. Its all been trying to get some work and relaxing, lots of relaxing actually.
Last weekend i went to see Sunride and Dozer open for 'Henry' Rollins Band at Nosturi. It was a great gig, Sunride played a good set, Dozer blew me a way with their awesome live sound (huge wall of guitar and bass) and Rollins was really good too. Actually surprised me how energetic it was, he is also very professional and that made a good combo. Got to hang out with Sunride backstage and met some of the Dozer guys who were cool. There was a guy from Demon Cleaner too (the singer i believe), who also runs the Molten Universe Records Label, recording Dozer's gig on video. All in all it was all good fun.
Week before that i saw Verenpisara play live at Gloria with Dashing Waves (reggae) and that was a good gig too, lots of friends popped in to see that one.
Also saw Sunride some three weeks ago, but i had to skip Disgrace on that gig, since one of the bands in between gave me a splitting headache.
George from New York was visiting Finland again and he flew back last tuesday. He is such a cool cat. Brought me some cool records and other stuff, which he always seems to do, i'm having a rough time finding him some stuff to give back.
Otherwise its been slow, haven't done much and am not planning to either, heh heh. Oh well, thats it for now, i'll write more when something worthwhile writing happens.
Music front has been busy and i'm not going to write here everything i've been listening. Its been heavy anyway. Later!
